Thomas Cushman

Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

About Thomas

Thomas is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who is passionate about supporting individuals on their journey toward mental wellbeing and overall wellness.

He earned his Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from Anderson University and brings four years of nursing experience to his psychiatric practice.

Thomas sees adolescents and adults at Counseling For Life (ages 13 and up) and has a broad interest in treating a wide variety of psychiatric conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and psychotic disorders.

He believes the most effective care is collaborative, empathetic, and tailored to each person’s unique needs.

While medication management is a central part of his role as a PMHNP, Thomas also incorporates psychoeducation, lifestyle changes, supportive therapy, and mindfulness-informed strategies to support meaningful and lasting change.

Thomas’s therapeutic style is warm, approachable, and authentic, and he strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where individuals feel truly heard and empowered to take an active role in their mental healthcare. Whether you're navigating a new life challenge or managing a long-term mental health condition, Thomas is committed to walking with you every step of the way.

Outside of his clinical work, Thomas lives in Anderson with his wife, Maria, and their cat, Petunia. He enjoys cooking, traveling, and hiking on the weekends.
