Michaela Tomberlin -
M.A., LPC-S

Clinical Director

and Supervisor

Founder and CEO

Michaela has been in the counseling field since 1993, working in both public and private agencies serving all populations. She holds a Master's Degree in Counseling from Appalachian State in Boone, North Carolina. Michaela is licensed as a Professional Counselor in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia, and holds the Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor designation in South Carolina. She is also a permanent continuing education provider and conducts trainings and seminars both in-house and in the community. Currently the Clinical Director at Counseling for Life, Michaela opened the practice in 2010 and continues to oversee its growth at both locations.

Marllyn Duncan -

Marllyn has been in the counseling field since 1988, serving as an educator, school counselor, and private practitioner. She holds a Master's Degree in Counseling from Clemson University. Marllyn is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor. She and her family reside in Pendleton, SC.

Michaele Kubacz -

Michaele Kubacz earned her Bachelor of Science from Wofford University and her Master of Arts in Counseling from Eastern New Mexico University. She believes that meaningful change begins when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. With more than 15 years of experience serving military service members, veterans, and their families, Michaele is passionate about helping clients build resilience, strengthen relationships, improve communication, and navigate life's challenges with confidence. Drawing on an integrative and evidence-informed approach, she partners with each client to create personalized care that honors their unique experiences, builds on their strengths, and helps them move toward the life they want to live.

Paige Gossett -
M.S., LPC

Paige earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University. She has worked in a variety of counseling settings utilizing Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to assist patients in reaching their counseling goals. She has experience in treating anxiety, depression, marriage and relational issues, men's issues, and adjustment disorders. She believes that true “wellness” is found when each domain of our lives is in equilibrium and moving in a positive direction. Her goal as a therapist is to help patients find a balance of healing, purpose, and direction through integrative approaches

Whitney Smith - 
M.S., LPC

Whitney Smith is a Licensed Professional Counselor who grew up in Anderson, moved away to complete her education, and returned in 2014 to live closer to family. Whitney received her Bachelor's from Queens University of Charlotte where she studied music therapy and her Master’s of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Winston-Salem State University. She believes in a client-centered approach to counseling where each person is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. Along with her husband and two children, Whitney finds peace spending time in nature and meaning through community service.

Shannon Davenport -
M.A., LPC

Shannon received her Master's degree from Webster University in 2013. She has worked in the human services field since 2008 and transitioned to the field of counseling in 2022. Primarily, she uses Family Systems Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to guide individuals on their healing journey. Shannon has a particular interest in working with families, specifically those navigating child custody, and kinship, foster, and adoptive families. Her passion is to help parents build strong, lasting bonds with their children while collaborating with each individual family member to provide support and encouragement. When working with individuals, Shannon encourages creating a plan that identifies personal goals and steps to achieve success. Shannon offers a realist point of view while incorporating practical steps for change in each individual or family's journey.

Stacie Peterson -
M.S., LPC

Stacie earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Services with an emphasis on Counseling and Marriage & Family Therapy from Southern Wesleyan University. She then returned to Southern Wesleyan to complete her Master’s of Science degree in Counseling Psychology. Stacie has worked in private practice and the school system, addressing a variety of clinical issues. She believes in a person-centered approach to therapy that tailors treatment to meet the needs of the individual in a collaborative, compassionate, and encouraging manner. Stacie has a passion for helping individuals heal from past and present trauma, and is certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Her goal as a therapist is to help facilitate a healing experience for individuals while they find peace, personal growth, and overall well-being.

Jennifer McCullough 
M.A., LPC-A

Jennifer earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and Christian Counseling and her Master’s of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. With nearly a decade of experience in the mental health field, she has worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, substance use, life transitions, stress, and relationship and family concerns. She is passionate about helping adolescents, adults, couples, and families find healing, clarity, and lasting change. She believes that every person deserves a safe, supportive space to feel heard, gain insight, and develop the tools needed to navigate life's challenges with confidence. Her approach is collaborative, person-centered, and tailored to each client's unique needs. Jennifer integrates evidence-based therapies to help clients build resilience, strengthen relationships, and achieve meaningful, lasting growth. For those who desire it, she also offers counseling from a Christian perspective.

Annie Mitchell

Annie Mitchell earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Clemson University, as well as her Master’s and Education Specialist degrees in Counselor Education from Clemson University. She has served as a school counselor in an elementary school since 2016. Annie is passionate about supporting children and adolescents as they navigate social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. She is dedicated to helping all populations build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and thrive in every area of life. Her approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to meet each client’s unique needs.

Kristy Cisneros - 
M.A., LPC-A

Kristy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Georgia State University, her Master of Arts in School Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University, and obtained supplemental graduate-level credits in mental health counseling from Liberty University. She has had the privilege of serving children of all ages for the past 16 years in her role as a school counselor, and she is also passionate about serving all populations on their journey to finding healing. Kristy believes that the success of therapy is firmly rooted in a strong therapeutic alliance and is intentional about meeting every client she encounters with empathy, compassion, and the utmost respect. She is also a firm believer that you have all the tools inside of you to heal and she is excited to accompany you on your journey!

Amelia Vaccaro -

Amelia earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a concentration in counseling at Mansfield University and her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Western Carolina University.  Amelia has been in the counseling and mental health field since 2016, and has served a wide variety of populations. She uses a person-centered and strength-based approach when working with clients. She enjoys aiding clients in developing skills and encouraging them through their healing process. In addition to her passion for her work, she spends time running, cooking, enjoying the outdoors, and chasing her little ones.

Alyssa Douda - 
M.Ed., LPC-A

Alyssa earned her Bachelor's degree  in Human Development and Family Studies, as well as a Master's in Mental Health Counseling at Texas Tech University. She has served as a teacher at a Child Development Research Center since 2020, and has experience working with children, adolescents, and parents. Alyssa is passionate about getting to know each individual child and uses Play Therapy to promote a safe, familiar, and engaging environment to support their growth.

Alyssa is dedicated to helping all populations build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and thrive in every area of life.
